We are thrilled to be finalists at the 2017 Business Women Excellence Awards.
Olga will attend the gala dinner at the Brighton Metropole Hotel on Friday 24 November where the winners will be announced.
We’re delighted to be finalists in three categories. Medium Business Year, Business Woman of the Year and Employer of the Year.

Finalists! East Sussex Women in Business Awards – Medium Business Award
We were delighted to attend the East Sussex Women in Business Awards gala dinner on Friday evening.
Green Mop was a finalist in the Medium Business of the Year category. We did not win, but to be a finalist is a wonderful achievement for us, of which we are very proud.
Our Service Manager Olga Surduleac attended the event to represent Green Mop, along with her friend Aliona. Olga had a wonderful time and said, “It was great to meet so many interesting people celebrating successful business women. Their stories are inspiring.”
New consumables price list
We’ve updated our consumables price list. Take a look here. A couple of increased prices, but most prices remain the same. These are the most popular items, but we do a huge selection of office consumables. So if you don’t see it on the list, drop us a line and we can get you a price for most items.
We’re recruiting!
We need some more Green Moppers to join our team! We have early morning and weekend office cleaning shifts available for immediate start. We have work in Brighton and Hove mainly.
Experience isn’t necessary as we’ll give you full training so that you know exactly what The Green Mop Standard is.
We’re a friendly bunch, and it’s a super, flexible job. We have mums, students, people with day jobs. You just need to be hard working, honest and reliable.
Fill in our simple application form on our website, and we can arrange to have a chat.
Superhero Green Moppers
We work periodically with the Brighton and Sussex University Hospital NHS Trust (BSUH). We take responsibility for cleaning some of their non-clinical areas, mainly office spaces. We do a month or so here and there. These areas are very often overlooked as the Trust prioritises cleaning resources in clinical areas, and rightly so.
However, when our Green Moppers return to the office workplaces after a few months away, they are greeted with cheers, hugs and like returning heroes! There’s no exaggeration, the office based staff are genuinely overjoyed to see us back cleaning there workplace! It makes such a difference to moral. And, of course, to the health and wellbeing of those workers.
It also highlights to our team of Green Moppers how valued their work is and how appreciative the BSUH staff are.
Fears and uncertainty now Brexit is a reality.
It’s a somber mood in the Green Mop office today. Today, our government has started the process leading to Britain’s exit from the EU. With the majority of our Green Moppers being from Europe, there is uncertainty that our hard-working, tax-paying colleagues will be able to stay with us. Our European friends who live and work here will be just another commodity to add to the negotiations. Just another bargaining chip with no guarantee of what the outcome will be.
Whatever your opinion on immigration, many industries and services rely heavily on migrant workers, and that includes cleaning. We’ve already seen a significant downturn in the number of job applicants from EU nationals. If, in two years’ time, we throw all EU citizens out (or if they choose to leave where they don’t feel welcome), it will obviously severely impact our workforce.
Our customer base is made up of a huge variety of businesses. It would be foolish to presume they will all be unaffected by Brexit. The impact of unstable currency markets, trading in the single market, workforce resources, the list is long and complicated. There are so many unknowns and a bumpy road ahead for many of us.
Here’s hoping our business and our customers’ businesses come out the other side as unscathed as possible. Hold tight, we’re in for a bumpy ride!
Healthy workplace
Toxic chemical cleaning products can cause significant indoor air pollution in your building.
Many cleaning chemicals emit volatile organic compounds, or VOCs (formaldehyde is one example). VOCs are known to cause or aggravate respiratory problems, headaches, allergies and nausea (some are thought to be carcinogenic too!)
As well as health risks, concentration and efficiency may also be affected by these problems.
Choosing to use non-toxic cleaning products means a healthier work environment for you, your colleagues and clients, as well as your cleaning team!
Green Mop provide a reliable and efficient cleaning service, giving you a clean and safe working environment.
Green Mop is 10 years old!
Well, doesn’t time fly. It’s been ten years since our first squirt of vinegar! We’ve come a long way in that time. I am grateful to all the customers and staff who have been with us along the away. And here’s to the next 10 years!
Staff engagement
The flexibility of office cleaning works well for our Green Moppers.
We currently employ 36 people, including mums, students, as well as people with second jobs.
We look after all of them offering training opportunities, including language lessons for those that need help, and formal qualifications such as City and Guilds. Some of our cleaners have achieved qualifications for the first time.
We try to place staff at sites near to their home. Cleaning materials are kept at customer sites enabling staff to walk or cycle to work. If needed, we have a bike pool and loan out bikes.
We encourage our cleaning teams to monitor and feedback to customers on other areas which contribute to their carbon footprint. Some great examples include switching off computer screens & lights to save energy, recommending switching from paper towels to energy efficient hand -driers, central recycling bins & removing desk bins for efficient waste management.
Cleaning is hard work, and we know we get the best work out of happy Green Moppers. We try to ensure we all work in a happy and safe environment. This benefits our workforce and our customers.
